Powering Projects Since 2002

In June 1985, Phil Hodgson, then an employee of Cable and Wireless, played a key role in the recovery efforts following the bombing of Air India Flight 182. Using a remotely operated submersible robot, he successfully located the aircraft’s black box on the ocean floor after the plane was destroyed in a terrorist attack. Can you spot him?!

ETC Ltd was founded in June 2002, originally operating from Phil’s home address. From modest beginnings, the business grew steadily, with his son, Andrew completing his electrical apprenticeship during this early period.

In 2016, ETC relocated to a significantly larger unit in Frodsham, providing the space needed to support continued growth. John McGrath joined the team, followed later by Phil's other son Mark, strengthening the company further. Andrew returned to ETC to oversee the electrical side of the business, allowing Phil to step back from day to day operations.

In 2024, ETC expanded once again by taking over the neighbouring unit, effectively tripling the size of their workspace. This exciting phase of growth also saw Anita Owen join the team, reinforcing ETC’s commitment to building a strong and capable workforce for the future.
